In our Guildford clinic we have Local Anaesthetic Theatre. This is one of the first "office based" theatres in the UK that has been specifically built for local anaesthetic vein surgery.

In this facility we are able to perform a variety of operations varicose vein operations under local anaesthetic.

The techniques we use are VNUS Closure (Radiofrequency Ablation), EVLT (EndoVenous Laser Treatment) or Ultrasound Guided Foam Sclerotherapy, all under local anaesthetic and so all are walk in walk out treatments.

Not everyone is suitable for Local Anaesthetic Surgery. However, by using a variety of methods and several visits, we are able to offer a walk in, walk out service to many of our patients.

To assess whether you are suitable for local anaesthetic surgery or injections, one of our Consultants will see you in our clinic first.
If you look like you have a vein problem, we will arrange a Duplex Ultrasound. This test tells us which of your veins are a problem and allows us to plan what treatments would be suitable for you and how many visits you would need.

Once we know these details, we will be able to supply you a written estimate for your treatment.
Our experience to date has shown that Local anaesthetic surgery works out roughly half to two thirds of the price of the equivalent operation being performed under General Anaesthetic.

Therefore, for the inconvenience of splitting the treatment up into 2 or more visits, you get the advantages of Local Anaesthesia, a "Walk in walk out" service and less expense
